Milestones


1937
Formation of Rana Gruber AS by AS Sydvaranger, Norway,
which itself is totally owned by German shareholders.

1945
Expropriation of the German owners.

1951
Rana Gruber becomes a state-owned company.

1961
Rana Gruber becomes a division of Norsk Jernverk, which itself
is owned by the Norwegian state.

1962-64
Construction of a new dressing plant.

1981
Modernisation of existing dressing plant.
Innovation: Jonesseperators to concentrate hematite.

1983
New, main crusher at «Ørtfjell» comes in Production.
Opening of a new open pit mine at «Ørtfjell», ca. 37km from Mo.

1989
Restructuring of Norsk Jernverk. Rana Gruber established as an
independent daughter of Norsk Jern Holding.

1990
Privatisation of Norsk Jern Holding. Rana Gruber remains as a state
owned company.

1991
Rana Gruber AS as a private company. Management and employee
buy-out.

1997
Preparation for new underground operation at «Kvannevann».

1999
Start-up of new underground mine at «Kvannevann».

1999
Restructuring of Rana Gruber AS. Establishment of two independent 100% own daughter companies as: RG Mineral AS and RG Service AS.

2006
Start-up of construction works to open new sub-level in the Kvannevann
mine.
