Rana Gruber AS

Since its foundation in 1936 Rana Gruber AS has concentrated on the mining and beneficiation of iron ore from its own iron ore deposits located in the Dunderland valley near the village of Storforshei approximately 35 km north of Mo i Rana, Nordland, Norway.

Mo i Rana is an important industrial and business centre situated at the Rana Fjord and the Rana River some 40 km south of the Arctic Circle. Although far north in terms of latitude, the town is situated in the middle of Norway, providing excellent logistics as it is connected to the main north-south oriented traffic routes. The ice free harbour is one of Norways busiest trading points in terms of frequency of calls and loaded/discharged cargo volume.

Rana Gruber AS has since its foundation passed through different forms of ownership (see Milestones). It was established in 1991 again as a privately owned company with the capital spread over a large number of shareholders, mainly employees of the company.
After re-structuring of the company in 1999 into the Rana Gruber Group, the remaining Rana Gruber AS stands for the traditional part of the business, iron ore mining and beneficiation. The specialty products and services are gathered in Rg Mineral AS while all maintenance activities are found in RG Service AS. Both companies are subsidiaries 100% owned by Rana Gruber AS.
